History-making lawyer Ken Starr to speak at breakfast

Kenneth Starr, dean and professor of law at Pepperdine University School of Law and a key investigator in the presidential scandals of the late 1990s, will speak at Lipscomb University’s next Business Leadership Speaker Series, 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, in Allen Arena.

Starr became a household name during his tenure as Independent Counsel from 1994-1999, when he investigated the role of President Bill Clinton in the Whitewater, Travelgate and Monica Lewinsky scandals.

At Lipscomb, Starr will discuss his general experiences in Washington D.C. and personal lessons learned during his high-profile career, which also includes arguing 25 cases in front of the Supreme Court as Solicitor General of the United States, clerking for Chief Justice Warren Burger in the 1970s and most recently teaching law at New York School of Law, George Mason University School of Law and Pepperdine University.

Since leaving his position as Independent Counsel, Starr has authored a book, First Among Equals: The Supreme Court in American Life, was appointed dean of law at Pepperdine in 2004, and has worked on high-profile cases opposing the death penalty.
