Green Business Summit seeks nominations for Green Business Leadership Awards

The Green Business Summit at Lipscomb University announces the first annual Green Business Leadership Awards, presented by Waste Management, to recognize businesses, individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional leadership in sustainable business practices.
 
The Green Business Leadership Awards have been established to honor business leaders in Tennessee and the surrounding region which are quantifiably practicing business more sustainably. Nominations are being accepted at info@greenbusinessandliving.net until March 1.

Awards will be given in the following categories:
  • Public Official of the Year 
  • CEO of the Year
  • Tennessee Green Innovator of the Year
  • Southeast Regional Green Business Innovator of the Year
  • Green Product of the Year
  • Green Service of the Year
  • Community Servant Leader of the Year
  • Sustainable Achiever
 
In order to be nominated, the effects of the nominee’s leadership must be realized within the 2009 calendar year.
 
The Green Business Leadership Awards, presented by Waste Management, will be awarded on Wednesday, April 14, at the Green Business Summit, April 13-14. This annual summit, sponsored by Lipscomb University, exists to serve Tennessee businesses working to reduce expenses, expand profitability and provide socially responsible goods and services for our communities and planet. In its third year, the Green Business Summit, hosted by the Institute for Sustainable Practice and the College of Business, has expanded to a two-day format, adding a peer-to-peer business exchange and its new awards program.
 
Tom Szaky, CEO and Co-Founder of TerraCycle, producer of the world's first product made from and packaged in waste, will be the April 14 keynote speaker. Sessions will be held on topics such as green marketing, carbon footprint calculation, sustainable waste management, green certification and international opportunities.
 
If registered by March 1, cost to attend the entire two-day Green Business Summit is $235 or $150 to attend one day only. A separate discounted ticket to the Tuesday, April 13, sustainability-themed live radio-style show Tokens is also available for those who want to learn about the state of green business in Tennessee through humor and music. Students may attend the entire two-day conference for $50.
