GMA's 47th Dove Awards celebrate Christian, gospel industry's best in Allen Arena

The Lipscomb University campus was transformed into the mecca of contemporary Christian and gospel music on Tuesday, Oct. 11, as thousands of musicians, producers, industry leaders and fans converged to celebrate the 47th annual GMA Dove Awards held in Allen Arena.

Dove_3Awards were handed out in 44 categories during the program in addition to special award categories. Among the 2016 winners was Charlie Peacock, artist-in-residence and director of the School of Music in the College of Entertainment & the Arts. Peacock was part of the team that won a Dove Award for 2016 Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for The Wonderlands: Sunlight & Shadows by Jon Foreman.

The theme for the sold-out show was Love. Amplified. It was hosted by for KING & COUNTRY and Tye Tribbett and featured performances by TobyMac, Tamela Mann, Hillsong UNITED, Matthew West, Natalie Grant and more. The will air on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) on Oct. 16 at 9 p.m. CST.

Highlights of the evening included a DC Talk reunion performance and Chris Tomlin accepting the SoundExchange Digital Radio Award. 2016 award winners included:
