The 7th annual Giving Day took place on Feb. 20 and was an incredible success, surpassing its bold goal of engaging 4,000 donors in a 24-hour time period by almost 700 contributors. Friends and fans of Lipscomb gave more than $3.1 million on a single day for the first time ever.

Giving Day provides donors with the opportunity to give specifically to a program or project of interest to them, and across the board from academic colleges to Athletics, from missions teams to  the Honors College, every department reaped rewards in donations throughout the day.

Faculty and staff gathered in Giving Day central, he Bennett Campus Center, to boost morale and watch the generous donations digitally flow onto campus.

Funds raised will benefit a wealth of specific programs from student scholarships to a new AI lab, from specific athletics teams, the cheerleaders and the Lippy Lunatics fan group to medical, business and engineering missions or the Lanier Center for Archeology.

Giving Day drew 928 alumni (who raised almost $500,000 as a group), 424 faculty and staff, 374 parents and 304 students to contribute to Lipscomb’s future, among other donors. Programs drawing in the most of the valuable resources were Lipscomb Athletics, the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

With volunteer Giving Day Ambassadors stoking the fires of generosity, various donation matches were awarded, including doubling funds donated for the Psalm 78:72 scholarship for business students, the J.S. Ward Society, the McClure Faith and Science Center and the Peugeot Center for Engineering Service in Developing Communities, just to name a few.

Students and employees were also encouraged to honor faculty by making a gift in honor of the faculty member of their choice.

The entire event was the result of the tremendous generosity of the enthusiastic fans and friends of Lipscomb.

It is also the reflection of the hard work and planning of the Office of Advancement team, led by Keith Hinkle, senior vice president for advancement, and particularly the Annual Giving team, led by Stephanie Carroll, assistant vice president for annual giving and alumni and parent engagement, Rhonda Minton, director of strategic communications for advancement; and Bethany Perala, associate director of annual giving, and the Lipscomb Academy Advancement team lead by Eric Adams, associate head of school for advancement, and Sheron Davidson, director of advancement programs and alumni engagement.
