Frist named Center for Entrepreneurship's 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year

Nashville business leader Robert A. Frist Jr. will receive Lipscomb University’s Center for Entrepreneurship’s 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Award April 5.

Frist is co-founder, chief executive officer and president of HealthStream Inc. Over the last 21 years, Frist has introduced innovative learning and research solutions to the nation’s hospitals and health care organizations, positioning HealthStream as a leader in health care education and research.

Frist, a long-time board member at Nashville’s Adventure Science Center, is an avid supporter of science education. He also serves on the board for the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and Nashville Entrepreneurship Center.

Under Frist’s leadership, Forbes magazine most recently named HealthStream #53 in their top 100 "Best Small Companies in the U.S." Today, more than 2.65 million health care professionals rely on HealthStream for their training and education and over 130 million course completion certificates have been awarded. Additionally, the Smithsonian presented HealthStream with the Computerworld Smithsonian Medallion in recognition of its achievement to use technology innovatively to empower and advance society.

Frist graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Science in business with concentration in finance, economics and marketing.

Frist will be honored at a luncheon Thursday, April 5, at 11:30 a.m. in the Ezell Center, Room 301, on the Lipscomb University campus. He will speak to students at 1:15 p.m. in the Swang Center for Business Administration, Room 108 following the luncheon.

The invitation-only luncheon is part of Entrepreneurship Week activities at Lipscomb. The Lipscomb University Center for Entrepreneurship is celebrating Entrepreneurship Week with four days of activities promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among students and the community. Events include the luncheon honoring Frist, a public lecture by Frist and an elevator pitch competition.

Lipscomb University’s Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE) promotes entrepreneurship within the College of Business and throughout the university. The LCE inspires and fosters the entrepreneurial spirit which enables students to succeed in a dynamic and uncertain business environment as they develop the passion to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
