Forehand Named New Baseball Coach at Lipscomb
 
Dr. Steve Potts, Lipscomb University athletics director, has announced that Jeff Forehand will be the new baseball coach.
 
Forehand replaces Wynn Fletcher, who resigned last week after six seasons with the Bisons.
 
“Jeff Forehand is a great fit for Lipscomb,” said Potts. “He identifies strongly with our Christian mission. “He has had great success everywhere he has been on both the high school and collegiate level. We are very excited about Jeff leading our baseball program.”
 
Forehand becomes the 16th baseball coach in Lipscomb history.
 
“Trevecca was a great fit for me and my family for the past six seasons,” said Forehand. “We are thankful for the opportunity and the relationships we made there.
 
“But this new opportunity is one we are looking forward to with great anticipation. This is an exciting time for Lipscomb baseball and we look forward to what the future will bring.”
 
Forehand makes the short move from Trevecca Nazarene University where he has coached the past six seasons on the NAIA level compiling a 210-143-1 record. This past season Trevecca was 42-20 after winning both the TranSouth Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2005 with a 46-17 record. In 2004 Trevecca was 44-17-1.
 
In 2004 he was named NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year and TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year. He was also named TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year in 2005.
 
Off of the field the Trevecca program has also excelled with the team grade point average increasing by half a point during his tenure.
 
Forehand, a Nashville native, also guided Goodpasture Christian School to three state titles in 1995, 1997 and 1999 in his eight seasons as head coach. He was also named State Coach of the Year three times.
 
Forehand served as an assistant coach from 1990-92 with his father, Fred, at Montgomery Bell Academy. He played college baseball at Belmont University. He also holds a Masters of Education degree from Tennessee State University.
 
Jeff and his wife, Karen, have two sons, Gant and Brooks. They live in Nashville and worship with the Woodmont Hills congregation.
