Families invited to go back to college for a day with their favorite Lipscomb student

Lipscomb University invites the families and friends of its students to campus for a fun day of activities during Family Weekend, Nov. 2-3. The offices of campus life, campus ministry and alumni relations and the Student Government Association have planned a weekend

chock full of events including musical entertainment, athletics, good food and worship. In addition, families will get a taste of campus life at Lipscomb with the opportunity to attend chapel, attend classes and eat in the dining hall with their child.

Friday Events

The weekend will kick off Friday morning, when parents will be able to attend a variety mock class sessions, lead by a representative of the college from each of the major areas of study. At 4 p.m., students and their families will be encouraged to attend the Lady Bisons soccer game against Tennessee Tech University. It will be the girl’s last game of the season.

Following the match, a kickball tournament is set to begin at 8 p.m. A live band is scheduled to perform during the tournament and a barbecue cookout will be provided for dinner.

Later in the evening, Bennett Campus Center will be host to “Coffee with Lowry”, a time for families to mingle and meet President Lowry. Starbucks will be open for business and live entertainment will be provided by students: Joe Hedrick, Landon Rives, and Burton Wood, who all will perform classic acoustic favorites.

Saturday Events

Saturday morning will begin with a brunch and devotional lead by President Lowry. Then students and their families will be provided the opportunity to participate in a service event. “We hope that families serving together will enhance the meaning of this weekend for parents and their children,” said Goode.

The weekend’s activities will conclude with a Nashville excursion, where families will be able to visit one of three tourist attractions: The Parthenon, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts or the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Finally at 4 p.m., the Lady Bisons basketball team will play an exhibition game against friendly rival Harding University.
