The Lipscomb University faculty enjoyed an evening of conversation and hors d’oeuvres at the first event held by an outside organization at Nashville’s new Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Lipscomb Provost, Craig Bledsoe, and his wife, Sandy, hosted the reception on behalf of the university to welcome nine new full-time members. All faculty and retirees were invited to the reception held earlier this week.

The new full-time faculty members for the 2006-07 school year are:
  • Larry W. Bridgesmith, Associate Professor of Conflict Management and Director of the Institute for Conflict Management
  • Mike Fowler, Professor of Chemistry and Biology and Pre-clinical Coordinator of the Lipscomb Nursing Program
  • Ray Harris, Assistant Professor of Communication
  • Beth Jent, Assistant Professor of Social Work
  • Anna Leta Moss, Assistant Librarian
  • Greg Nordstrom, Associate Professor of Engineering
  • Mary Sledge, Associate Professor of Biology
  • Leanne Smith, Instructor in Management
  • Gary Wilson, Associate Professor of Music
Mark Godwin, adjunct music instructor, provided music for the evening. Rhonda Lowry, wife of president Randy Lowry, joined the faculty in welcoming the new members and reconnecting with the retirees. About 200 people attended the event. Previous receptions to honor new faculty have been held at other notable community locations such as the Frist Center and Cheekwood.
