Eldridge appointed chair of ACBSP board of commissioners

Ray Eldridge_2016_250Ray Eldridge, dean of Lipscomb University's College of Business, has been appointed chair of the Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) , the only global accrediting body to accredit business, accounting and business-related programs at all degree levels.

As chair, Eldridge will lead the 13-member Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners, convening four times each year to review application materials for ACBSP member baccalaureate/graduate degree institutions in candidacy for accreditation. An Associate Degree Board of Commissioners follows the same process for associate degree member institutions in candidacy for accreditation. Eldridge will serve a one-year term.

Eldridge has been an active member of ACBSP for more 12 years. He has served as a site team evaluator, team leader and mentor for ACBSP since 2004. He assumed the role of commissioner on the Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners in 2013 and was appointed chair-elect in 2015.

“Dr. Eldridge knows the accreditation process well, having successfully led Lipscomb University through the process of reaffirmation of accreditation in 2011,” said Steve Parscale, ACBSP director of accreditation. “He has a special talent for leading teams through the accreditation process and additionally helping Lipscomb University achieve separate accounting accreditation,” he said.

Eldridge is also a professor of management at Lipscomb. Lipscomb has been nationally ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek as a top 50 Part-Time MBA program and top 100 undergraduate business program. He has previously served as dean of the Freed-Hardeman University School of Business and as a department chair at Syracuse University. He has served as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner since 2005, served on the Board of Examiners for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence, and is a Certified Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence (CQM/OE). Eldridge has more than 20 years of leadership experience as a career U.S. Army officer serving on numerous worldwide deployments.
