Domestic, international missions involved 350 students, faculty, friends during spring break

While millions of college students will be heading to spring break destinations this month, more than 225 Lipscomb students will head to locales around the world to serve rather than rest.
A total of 350 people – including faculty, staff, alumni and friends along with students – will be participating in Lipscomb University’s 18 spring break mission trips March 19-23. The teams will travel to eight foreign nations and five cities within the United States.
One team will be serving right here in Nashville, teaming up with Disaster Relief of Tennessee, Youth Encouragement Services, Front Porch Ministries, the Wayne Reed Christian Care Center and the Nashville Food Project.
Other mission trips will include activities ranging from building homes with Habitat for Humanity to encouraging orphans and underprivileged children, from short-term medical clinics to evangelism campaigns. While thousands may be focusing on self during spring break, many Lipscomb students will be sorting clothes in inner city Atlanta, holding Bible studies in the Caribbean, doing crafts with children in Mexico and cleaning teeth in Guatemala.
Eleven of the 18 spring break mission teams have served the same location for more than 10 years. A 40-person congregation in Patterson, Calif., is the site of Lipscomb’s newest trip. Here, students will encourage through preaching, Bible study and fellowship.
