“Tiffany's background in behavioral assessment, education and psychology make her uniquely qualified to lead the innovative academic programs and behavioral assessment development for our college,” said Nina Morel, dean of the College of Professional Studies. “Since she has been in the college, she has been key to the development of our competency-based education online learning modules and has directed many of our behavioral assessment centers. Tiffany has strong leadership and collaboration skills, and she is the ideal person to help lead the college to develop the systems we need to both scale our programs and to strengthen their quality and rigor.”

Morel said that Denton’s strong academic background, including publications in her field, will be an asset as she manages the accreditation process for the college’s competency-based education initiatives and other programs. She will also be the point person for the Experimental Sites Initiative, a higher education program authorized by Congress and implemented by the US Department of Education.

“I look forward to the opportunity of continuing to grow with the College of Professional Studies. This is an exciting time in higher education. I am honored to be part of such a talented team and Lipscomb's efforts to remain at the forefront of serving adult learners.”

Lipscomb University’s College of Professional Studies offers the credentials of a traditional degree program, balanced with nontraditional delivery and coaching that helps students develop the skills to meet the workforce needs of today and tomorrow. It offers the university’s innovative competency-based education program which awards college credit based on prior learning as well as life and professional experiences through CORE (Customized, Outcome-based, Relevant Evaluation) Competency Assessment and Development Center. Students can earn up to 30 credits, following a rigorous behavioral assessment, saving them thousands of dollars in tuition money.

Lipscomb’s program, which is already considered a leader and innovator in this area among liberal arts institutions nationally, was the first to have its competency-based program accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is one of only a few of its kind in the nation. The college also houses the university’s Adult Degree Program, which offers a variety of programs of study options.

Denton is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she received a Doctorate of Education in applied behavior analysis and educational specialist degrees. She most recently worked as an independent education and behavioral consultant in Memphis, Tennessee. Denton is a nationally certified school psychologist and board certified behavior analyst with doctoral designation. She came to Lipscomb with eight years of experience as a school psychologist, learning specialist and independent consultant.
