Country music leader Kix Brooks to speak at Nashville Business Breakfast on Feb. 19

Kix Brooks, one-half of the platinum-selling country music duo Brooks & Dunn, will speak at Lipscomb University’s next Nashville Business Breakfast at 7 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. Brooks, a former president of the Country Music Association, will discuss “The Impact of the Music Industry on Music City.”

The Nashville Business Breakfast is a lecture series featuring business leaders with local economic impact presented by Lipscomb University and the Nashville Business Journal. Past speakers include former Mayor Bill Purcell, Wayne Smith, CEO of Community Health Systems, and Gregg Morton, president of AT&T Tennessee.

As a recording artist, Brooks teams with Ronnie Dunn to form the highest selling duo in the history of country music. They have sold more than 30 million records and have won over 80 major industry awards. Brooks is also the host of “American Country Countdown” which is an internationally syndicated radio program. 

As an industry leader, Brooks served as president of the Country Music Association (CMA) in 2004 and as chairman in 2005. He currently serves on the Blue Ribbon Committee, a select group of professionals chosen to bring the city of Nashville and the music industry closer together. As a businessman, Brooks is a founding partner in Arrington Vineyards in Arrington, Tenn., in Williamson County. He also serves on the boards of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Avenue Bank and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is also the local spokesperson for Monroe Harding Children’s Home.
