The Lipscomb University College of Business’s Master of Business Administration program is ranked among the best in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek, it was announced today.

Lipscomb ranks 43 out of a top 74 part-time MBA programs in the nation on the 2015 Bloomberg Businessweek MBA rankings. Lipscomb is the only Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)-accredited institutions included on the list. Lipscomb’s College of Business is also one of only two in Tennessee to make the list, which included Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. Lipscomb ranked higher than the University’s of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, Oklahoma State University’s Price College of Business and Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.

“This is a significant milestone for Lipscomb University and the College of Business,” said Lipscomb Provost W. Craig Bledsoe. “This first-ever national ranking for Lipscomb’s MBA program is a reflection of top-quality business instruction that has been a hallmark of Lipscomb University’s academic program for decades.”

According to Bloomberg Business, more graduate degrees in business are awarded each year than in any other field in the U.S. Researchers for the ranking compiled data from more than 13,150 current students, 18,540 alumni and 1,460 recruiters across 177 distinct business school programs.

“The college has earned a reputation as a leader in faith-based business education,” said Ray Eldridge, interim dean of Lipscomb’s College of Business. “Being ranked among some of the most prestigious business schools across the country not only speaks to the quality education that our students receive but also is a testament to the success these students have when they graduate. While we’re proud of that, as a college that is built differently we’re even more proud as we see our graduates leave us to change the world, in corporate life, in entrepreneurship, in innovative social enterprises that are improving lives globally. Sometimes these grads make great business headlines. Sometimes they’re the behind-the-scenes workers that all businesses depend upon and upon whom great businesses are built. But they’re all part of the legacy of a college of business unlike any other that has been built not just to propel the success of its graduates but also to celebrate the success of faithful adherence to eternal principles.”

According to Businessweek, the Part-Time MBA rankings are composed of 50 percent Student Survey score (75 percent 2015 data, 25 percent 2014 data), which measured feedback on academics, career services and campus climate among other factors; and 50 percent Alumni Survey score (33.3 percent alumni MBA feedback, 33.3 percent alumni compensation change over time, 33.3 percent alumni job satisfaction), which measures how the individual’s MBA has impacted their careers. Student Survey and Alumni Survey scores were standardized using mean and standard deviation and combined to create final rankings.

Lipscomb University’s College of Business is accredited by the ACBSP for undergraduate and graduate programs and was the fourth school in the nation to receive the organization’s new Accounting Specialization Accreditation. It offers the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in five majors and eight areas of graduate study leading to an MBA, a Master of Accountancy, a Master of Human Resources or a Master of Management degree. It is among the 15 percent of the business schools in the nation to require a global experience for its students. It has been recognized as one of the top 25 colleges of business in the nation for veterans. It is home of the Hilton & Sallie Dean Institute for Corporate Governance and Integrity, the Center for Global Connectedness and Collaboration and the Center for Entrepreneurship.
