Celebrate Independence Day at Summer Celebration's July 3 family picnic, fireworks

Everyone is invited to celebrate the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 3, at the Summer Celebration family picnic and community worship service, 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The Summer Celebration Independence Day festival features a professional fireworks display, free games and inflatables for children, and live entertainment by the Annie Moses Band Tuesday.

Activities begin at 4:30 p.m. with a family picnic and a "Kid Zone," including games and crafts for children in the Allen Arena mall area. Food will be available for purchase from Jim 'N Nicks, Blue Coast Burrito, Chick-fil-A of Brentwood and Kona Ice.
- The community worship service in Allen Arena will be kicked off with a concert by Acappella at 6 p.m.. Congregational singing led by Keith Lancaster begins at 6 p.m., and a keynote talk by Harold Redd of Memphis, Tenn., will begin at 7 p.m. Redd will speak on "God's First Word in Reconciliation"
- The Annie Moses Band will perform at the Allen Bell Tower beginning at 8:30 p.m.
- A professional fireworks display beging at approximately 9 p.m.

The Annie Moses Band is a unique ensemble that blends fiddle, jazz, and ?classical influences fused with soaring, folk-inspired vocals to create a sound that is both refreshing and familiar. The Annie Moses Band is comprised of Bill and Robin Wolaver and their children: Annie, lead vocals and violin; Alex, lead vocals and viola; Benjamin, cello; Camille, harp, keyboard and vocals; Gretchen, violin, mandolin, guitar and vocals; and Jeremiah, guitar.
The evening is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the concert and fireworks display.
The event marks the conclusion of Lipscomb’s annual Summer Celebration, three days of Bible classes and lectures drawing more than 75 presenters and speakers from throughout the United States and overseas.
Summer Celebration classes are also free and open to the public. Hosted theme dinners and special events may require admission fees.

Summer Celebration 2012 brings "God's First Word" to thousands of attendees
Lipscomb University hosts its annual Summer Celebration, a festival of faith and fun with seminars, children’s activities, performances and dynamic worship, July 1-3 on campus. Sessions will focus on the theme of “Beginning Now!,” a look into the early chapters of the book of Genesis.

Summer Celebration is three days of Bible classes and lectures drawing more than 75 presenters and speakers from through the United States and overseas.
Based on pre-registrations, this year's event is expected to be the largest ever, with the number of pre-registrations almost doubling and the number of room registrations jumping by almost 200 rooms.
The series will open at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 1 with a time of worship with Keith Lancaster of Nashville, followed by a 7 p.m. keynote address featuring Buddy Bell, preaching minister at Landmark Church of Christ in Montgomery, Ala. He will speak on "God's First Word on Creation."

In addition to Bell, keynote speakers include Jason Bybee, Huntsville, Ala.; Don McLaughlin, Atlanta, Ga.; Patrick Mead, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Harold Redd, Memphis. More than 75 speakers from across the nation will be featured during the series.
Lipscomb’s Summer Celebration 2012 will feature a variety of other programs including the 30th anniversary of ACAFEST, a celebration of a cappella music; sessions on grief, disability and urban ministries; programs for teens; children’s classes; and sessions on a wide variety of topics including ministry in the digital age, evangelism, marriage, worship, environmental stewardship and community outreach, among others.
Summer Celebration concludes with its annual Independence Day celebration Tuesday, July 3, on the Allen Arena mall.
