Career Center workshop to help job-seekers move to the head of the pack

Dan Miller, local career coach and author of 48 Days to the Work You Love, will present a free session for job-seekers, at 10 a.m., Monday, March 16, at Lipscomb University’s Willard Collins Alumni Auditorium.

 
Miller will speak on “What’s Holding You Back?” as part of the Extreme Makeover: Career Edition workshop, a one-day event hosted by the Lipscomb Career Center for those seeking a career change. Miller’s keynote address is free and open to the public. The full-day seminar costs $20, including a box lunch.

Miller, a speaker and frequent radio and television show guest, has written several books including No More Mondays. He has been a guest on CBS's “The Early Show,” MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Mathews,” the 700 Club's “Living the Life,” and the “Dave Ramsey Show.”
 
He writes regularly for popular magazines and web portals including CBN.com, Crosswalk.com, New Man, AARP and Success magazines.

Full-day seminar features one-on-ones with career experts

Registrants to the entire Extreme Makeover: Career Edition workshop will attend sessions led by Matt Lowney, host of Career Talk on Channel 5+, and Matt LeBlanc, who has coordinated the Nashville Career Transition Group for 10 years.
 
They will also meet one-on-one with local human resources professionals, receive a tailored Myers-Briggs Career Report and attend workshops on networking, interview skills, dealing with the emotional turmoil of a job hunt, current trends in resume writing and interviewing, using technology and a social network, gauging the value of a graduate degree in a new field and identifying strengths.

The Extreme Makeover workshop is the first in a series of outreach efforts Lipscomb University will conduct this year to empower Lipscomb alumni and community members in their job search or job transition.
