Brothers named Louisville Slugger All-American

Freshman left-hander Rex Brothers was named as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

A native of Chapel Hill, Tenn., Brothers posted a 7-4 record for the Bisons this season while holding opponents to a .208 batting average. Brothers notched a 3.51 ERA this season and led the team with 93 strikeouts in 16 appearances for the Bisons.

Brothers anchored the Bisons starting rotation as a freshmen this season, and helped lead the Bisons to their first ever conference tournament.

For his work during the season, coaches from around the league voted Brothers as the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, as well as to the A-Sun Second Team All-Conference and the A-Sun All-Freshman Team.

Brothers received Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week after recording a season high 11 strikeouts in defeating Mercer University on April 7.

Brothers was one of three Atlantic Sun freshman to be awarded with this honor, and was the first Bison to ever be honored as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
