The Lipscomb community will have a unique opportunity to shop and help fund college scholarships at this year’s Avalon Market Day set for Saturday, Nov. 1.

Avalon Market Day, presented by the Associated Women for Lipscomb, will take place at Avalon House, former home of David and Margaret Lipscomb, and in the Lipscomb Academy High School cafeteria from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“This is a fun opportunity for the community to purchase some unique items and to get a head start on holiday shopping while helping to support Christian higher education through these purchases,” said Laura Sears, Associated Women for Lipscomb director. “We are excited to have a variety of vendors, food trucks, entertainment and more lined up for the day.”

Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend. A portion of the proceeds from vendor sales go to fund scholarships to Lipscomb University.

Vendors are scheduled to include m.florita jewelry, Haul Couture, See My World Photography, 31 Gifts, Books by Brittney, Where the Art Is, Premier Designs, Jewelry, Kakki’s Designs, It’s All Good Monogram & Applique, the Cutest Little Shoppe, Twin Purpose, Drops of Joy, Well Versed Gifts, Gig’s Gals & take2totes, Music City Suds, Embellish, Sunny Tuesday, 21st Century Christian, the Pampered Chef, Nana Lovey’s, Rodan + Fields, Historian’s Press and Tennessee Mercy among others. Lipscomb ornaments, Watkins products and A.W.L. cookbooks will also be available for purchase.

Food trucks will also be onsite including Hoss’ Loaded Burgers, Smoothie King, Bacon Nation and Two Guys in a Lunchbox. A silent auction and door prize giveaways along with live entertainment throughout the day are also planned.

The Associated Women for Lipscomb mission is to raise funding for need-based scholarships, to support Lipscomb University as it provides an academically excellent Christian education, and to foster friendships among women interested in furthering the efforts of Christian education. The Associates were formed on April 16, 1982, when then-president Willard Collins hosted a luncheon for 20 women and challenged them to form a new organization that would support and encourage the tradition of excellence initiated by university co-founders David Lipscomb and James A. Harding in 1891. A.W.L. has raised more than $1 million in scholarship funds since its inception.
