All-campus communion provides space for community to rest, reflect on what God has done

As the fall 2016 semester quickly comes to a close, Lipscomb University is holding its all-campus communion service for the community to come together to rest, worship and pray on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Doris Swang Chapel, located in the Ezell Center.

Hosted by the Office of Student Life, the goal of the event is to create a space for prayer, reflection and connectivity with God and a community of believers.

“Between work, family and the many things that compete for our attention, we know that moments of rest or reflection can be few and far between,” said Keela Smith, associate dean of student life. “However, this is a simple invitation that we hope the community can join us for.”

We find peace in remembering Jesus’ final act of community. Christ brought his 12 disciples together to share in one final meal, and this time was intended to give his disciples space to reflect upon the significance of the sacrifice that was to come, said Cyrus Eaton, director of the Joshua Project and male campus minister.

“Each semester, we gather as a community to remember what Christ has done for us and invite the community to participate in remembering Christ’s sacrifice and the life we gain through His life laid down,” said Eaton. “Join us for all-campus communion, a night of rest, communion and friendship.”
