Stoddard is a philosopher of contemporary living and interior designer for more than 30 years. Her unique insights reveal the small, but significant things that one can do to change one's mind, heart and environment. Her mantra is "Happiness is the first principle of life. Love and Live Happy." Observers now say Stoddard has hit a nerve in the public psyche with her positive message of enthusiasm leading to the active joy of living fully every moment.

Stoddard's original theme of living beautifully and spiritually every day resulted in television appearances with Barbara Walters, Oprah, Katie Couric ("The Today Show"), "Home Matters" and as host of the Home and Garden television series "Homes Across America." Stoddard continues to be profiled in major magazines and newspapers worldwide. She lives in New York City and Stonington Village, Connecticut with her husband, Peter Megargee Brown. She has two daughters, Alexandra B. Stoddard (mother of twins Nicholas and Anna and baby Lily), and Brooke Stoddard, both journalists.

Stoddard's 23rd book, "Things I Want My Daughters to Know: A Small Book about the Big Issues in Life," will be released Oct. 5 by Harper Collins. The weekend prior to her Lipscomb engagement, Ms. Stoddard will be a featured speaker at the National Book Festival hosted by First Lady Laura Bush and sponsored by the  Library of Congress. She speaks regularly at a variety of events, fundraisers and seminars, most often in the United States and Canada. She especially enjoys meeting her readers on her continuous book tours.
