Each semester, Lipscomb’s HealthyU wellness program works tirelessly to support and empower Lipscomb employees to engage in behaviors that contribute to their overall health and well-being through events and programs that educate them about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

On Thursday, March 30, university employees will have an opportunity to learn more about healthy lifestyles and resources that are available to them at the 2017 HealthyU Health Fair.

“We have two health fairs each year – one for Lipscomb Academy and one for Lipscomb University. For both of the fairs, the purpose is to provide opportunities for employees to gain knowledge about offerings available both on campus and off campus that can assist in their journey toward improved health and well-being,” Anna Rose Robertson, assistant professor of kinesiology and director of the HealthyU Wellness Program.

The 2017 HealthyU Health Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Activities Center and will feature several on- and off-campus vendors who will cover a variety of wellness topics ranging from mental, spiritual and financial wellness to nutrition and exercise.

Vendors include: Lipscomb Family Therapy Center, Human Resources, The Joshua Project, Lipscomb Missions, Nashville FitLab, Berry Hill Chiropractic, iLoveKickboxing and more.

“Each of the vendors attending the HealthyU Health Fair has been vetted and intentionally invited,” said Robertson. “Our health fair committee members, Kelly Blankenship and Dolly DeLong, and I have been very intentional about the vendors we have invited to each of the HealthyU Health Fairs. Every employee who attends is sure to find information and opportunities to improve their health!”

Lipscomb University’s HealthyU Employee Wellness Program is a free benefit for all full-time employees that offers both resources and incentives to encourage employees to engage in health-enhancing behaviors and practices.

Beginning in 1992 by Ruth Henry, professor of nutrition and kinesiology, the program offers a $300 tiered incentive, which is available to all full-time Lipscomb employees. Other services of HealthyU include health and fitness evaluations, wellness consultations, personal training and educational sessions.

“Everyone leads a busy life,” Robertson continued. “By having these groups represented on campus in a central area over an expanded period of time, an easy opportunity is provided for most employees to gather information about improving their health and well-being without the hassle of researching different organizations.”
