About the performers:
Carolyn Wann Bailey is a freelance artist who is thrilled to call Music City her home. Having recently retired from the Nashville Symphony where she held the position of Principal 2nd Violin for 25 years, she currently enjoys the variety of work between recording sessions (recording artists of a multitude of genres, movies, Christian projects for print, video games, musical theater), teaching violin privately and at Lipscomb University (to a multitude of levels of students), and live performances (Nashville Opera, various chamber groups, Ray Stevens CabaRay, to name a few).
Attending the Cleveland Institute of Music, Carrie earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. While in the Cleveland area, she studied with Stephen Majeske, Bernhard Goldschmidt, Paul Statsky, and David and Linda Cerone. Following school, Carrie was concertmaster of the Canton Symphony Orchestra (OH) and was active with their String Quartet for a decade, and simultaneously played in other area orchestras in various capacities.
Aside from the violin, Carrie enjoys riding her Arab/Dutch Warmblood cross horse, Sir, and traveling. She and her husband Jeff live north of Nashville in Goodlettsville on a hobby farm, where they care for a myriad of animals (dogs and cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, and a pig named Jubilee). They also enjoy time in the kitchen together, trying new recipes and typically making a rustic timpano around the holidays.
Carrie plays a violin by Francesco Lazzaretti made in 1898.
