Michael Shane Neal and Mattie Ree Neal Exhibit Opening & Gallery Talk

A public opening and gallery talk for On The Same Page: A Father & Daughter's Artistic Journey will take place on Tuesday, March 24 from 5–6:30 p.m. in the John C. Hutcheson Gallery in Lipscomb University's Beaman Library. The event and exhibit are free and open to the public.
In this exhibit, the community will have a unique opportunity to view the works of internationally acclaimed portrait artist and Lipscomb Fine Arts Ambassador Michael Shane Neal (BA ’91) and his daughter, Mattie Ree Neal, at this special father-daughter art exhibit this spring.
The exhibit runs from March 19-April 19 and is open during Beaman Library operating hours: Mon.-Thurs., 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Shane Neal’s portfolio includes more than 600 commissioned portraits of distinguished figures including seven U.S. senators, more than a dozen federal judges, numerous heads of universities, four U.S. governors, Morgan Freeman and Jimmy Fallon, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Perot Jr., former U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and a recent commission by Syracuse University to paint a portrait of President Joe Biden. His portraits are housed in prestigious institutions such as the United States Capitol, the Pentagon, various public and private collections and two in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Mattie Ree Neal is an artist-in-residence at Lipscomb. a 2020 graduate of Lipscomb Academy, has pursued a career as a professional artist with a deep commitment to traditional, representational painting. She has studied with some of today’s most prominent portrait painters, sculptors and fine artists, training in studios and workshops around the world. Mattie Ree has been a guest teacher in several classes in Lipscomb's Department of Visual Arts and has led a painting workshop through Lipscomb's Lifelong Learning program.
