Secondary Education Professional Development opportunity hosted by the McClure Faith and Science Center.
Come join us for Teaching Biology while Respecting Faith, a hybrid workshop focused on discussing challenging issues in science, like evolution, in faith-based institutions using student-centered techniques and culturally-competent strategies.
Who: Any secondary education science instructor (junior high and high school); any religious leader or instructor in charge of secondary-age youth (e.g., seminary teachers, youth ministers, Bible teachers, etc.)
Part 1: Online Course - Complete a digital course on evolution and religion between February 22 and March 8. The course will showcase several resources available to help religious students find reconciliation between beliefs and evolutionary principles. You will also participate in interactive discussions with other science and religious educators.
Part 2: Live Conference - On March 8, we will hear from Dr. April Cordero, Christian Biologist, PLNU, and Dr. Lee Meadows, Executive Director, Alabama STEM Council. Speakers will be followed by an interactive discussion. The lecture will take place in the McClure Faith and Science Center.
Compensation: Following full participation in the online module and Live Event, we are offering each attendee a $100 Amazon gift card and a certificate of completion for 6 Professional Development hours.
