The performance will feature Sarah Kirkland Snider’s Mass for the Endangered (2018), about the need to preserve our planet, and Viet Cuong’s Re(new)al: Concerto for Percussion Quartet (2017), inspired by alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power.
Snider’s work is for chorus and instrumental ensemble and will feature Portara, a Middle Tennessee chorus made up of professional, semi-professional, and amateur singers. Cuong’s piece is for four percussion soloists and instrumental ensemble.
Both works emphasize the value of nature and our planet, and the performance will shed light on the beauty, fragility and resilience of our planet.
