HumanDocs/NPT screening: “Bedlam”
Wednesday, March 4, 2020 6:30 PM-9:30 PM
Ward Hall
HumanDocs Film Series and Nashville Public Television are pleased to present the newest ITVS documentary, “Bedlam,” March 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Ward Hall.
“Bedlam” filmmaker and practicing psychiatrist Kenneth Paul Rosenberg, M.D., visits ERs, jails and homeless camps to examine our national mental health crisis. Dr. Rosenberg follows the poignant stories of people grappling with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other chronic psychiatric conditions, whose silence and shame often worsen the suffering.
After the screening there will be a short panel discussion, along with the opportunity for the audience to participate using a phone-based feedback tool that invites people to share insights with one another so that the collective wisdom of the crowd can emerge. The DocSCALE tool helps audiences add their voices and perspectives to the conversation in a safe, anonymous, inclusive setting—while providing the Independent Lens team with insights on how to create better conversations and the value of film screenings.
Because of its depictions of severe mental illness, this program contains material that might not be suitable for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
