As part of the Creative Arts Collective for Christian Life & Faith grant, Lipscomb University will host a three-day conference titled Generation Gospel for directors, and their collegiate gospel choirs.  The conference will include two plenary sessions, choir showcases, breakout sessions, rehearsals culminating in a live choir concert/recording.  

Planned breakout sessions include:

  1. From Spirituals to Contemporary Gospel: A Journey Through History
  2. Women and Men Who Shaped Gospel Music
  3. Gospel Choirs in the Civil Rights Movement to Gospel
  4. Global Influences: Crossing Cultures
  5. Breath, Blend, and Power: Vocal Technique for Choirs
  6. Directing with Confidence: Conducting for Choir Directors
  7. Styling the Sound: Gospel Vocal Expression
  8. Keeping Choirs Healthy: Vocal Care and Longevity
  9. Behind the Music: The Business of Gospel Choirs and the Music Industry
  10. Budgeting, Touring, and Fundraising for College Choirs
  11. Marketing Your Choir in the Digital World
  12. Legal and Licensing Issues in Choir Music
  13. Choir as Ministry: Spiritual Formation Practices 
  14. Leading Worship: Beyond the Notes 
  15. Faith Practices for Choir Members
  16. Prayer, Unity, and Spiritual Renewal
