Baja Softball Missions Reflection: God is Faithful
August 12, 2025

Sometimes we feel distant. Sometimes we don't feel like doing what we need to do. Sometimes we worry. Sometimes we don't feel good enough. Sometimes we get trapped in social media or emotional bondage.
But when the drought comes, and the water is down in our hearts, this trip will be the reminder I cling to of God's faithfulness.
This is my second time serving in Baja, Mexico—specifically Punta Colonet—and somehow I always walk away more amazed. There is so, so much goodness that comes from serving the global church and God's people. But if I told you that's all these 9 days were about, I'd be selling it short. This trip wasn't just for the people of Baja, it was for the seven of us who traveled to Mexico, Pilar and Panfilo, our families back home, the Lipscomb community, those who donated or whispered a prayer over this opportunity. God works in incredible ways, so I will share only a sliver of what He was able to accomplish this week.
Lies were uncovered. Truths were told. Chains were broken. Hearts were healed. He will continue to tear down the lies being fed to us. God constantly reminds us that He is for us. We are His daughters. He does have our best interest at heart. He will never leave us.
One of the big themes that popped up for us throughout the week was saying "yes." And I mean yes to everything. The kids would run up and ask something (half the time we didn't even know what they were saying), and we'd answer with a big "¡Si!"—trusting that something good was about to happen. That kind of blind yes reminded me of what our hearts should look like with God. Saying yes to His call without needing all the details, without waiting for the perfect conditions. Just trusting that His plans are good and better than our own.
Let me also tell you— God will break every box we try to put Him in. Every. Single. One. God speaks Spanish, and speaks English, and understands the old and the young, the brokenhearted and the suffering. The Lord has no boundaries when it comes to salvation and that was evident this week!
God always provides. Not always in the ways we expect— actually almost never in the way we can imagine. I am so thankful that He exceeds every expectation we have ever set of Him. We walked into a foreign country ready to serve people who spoke a different language, but with no real idea of what to expect. And God exceeded it all. Every need, every question we didn't even know how to ask or answer—He had it covered. How can we set a standard for the Lord to meet when He will always outdo what we want in the way it should be done?
There were also plenty of moments of wandering. Wondering what to do next.
Questioning our purpose. Asking ourselves, "Are we in the way? Is what we are doing helpful? How does this game even work? What are the children saying?" But by the end of the week, we realized something huge: sometimes presence is enough. Sometimes the most impactful thing you can do is just be there. When we feel lost, God seeks us out and His presence in the silence is enough.
That brings me to say, Baja Missions is an incredible organization and Camp Baja is a very special place. God's faithfulness was written all over this trip!
"Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always." -Psalms 105:4
