Longview Mansion
Join the Lifelong Learning program on Friday, Sept. 1 at Longview Mansion, located at 811 Caldwell Lane, Nashville, Tennessee, for “A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the World of Animation,” featuring Tom Bancroft, producer and Lipscomb University Artist in Residence with the George Shinn College of Entertainment & the Arts.
Tom Bancroft has over 30 years of experience in the animation industry, most of which was for Walt Disney Feature animation where he was an animator for 12 years on such Disney classics as "Beauty and the Beast", "The Lion King," "Aladdin," "Pocahontas," "Tarzan" and "Brother Bear." He is also the creator of Mushu The Dragon in Disney’s "Mulan."
After Disney, he worked with Big Idea Productions as a supervising director/co-creator for a VeggieTales DVD series. His popular character design instruction books — “Creating Characters with Personality” and “Character Mentor” — have become the most recognized books on designing characters and are required textbooks at many art schools around the world.
In this class, Tom will discuss the world of animated films. Different forms of animation will be discussed as well as the step-by-step process of how a character is developed all the way to making its debut on the big screen!
Cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. Registration is required by Aug. 29. Parking is available on site.
Sponsored by the Lipscomb Office of Alumni Engagement, the Lifelong Learning program offers people of retirement and semi-retirement age an opportunity to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, non-competitive environment.
