Higher education veteran Al Sturgeon has been appointed Lipscomb University's new vice president of student life.

When Tennessee’s 111th General Assembly convened on Tuesday, Jan. 8, six Lipscomb University alumni and one Lipscomb Academy graduate were among those who have been elected to serve the state in the House or Senate.

On Jan. 17, Lipscomb University will host guest speaker Ashford Hughes at the MLK Diversity Breakfast in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy.

Even though the transition from the Marines to college was difficult, Dillon Volpi said the veteran services office gave him unlimited resources to succeed.

Lipscomb University will be hosting its annual fall commencement on Saturday Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in Allen Arena.
