Leave of Absence

A Leave of Absence (LOA) is a voluntary, temporary pause in your education at Lipscomb University when personal, family, medical, or financial circumstances make it difficult to continue, or when a temporary opportunity takes you away from campus. Unlike withdrawing, a Leave of Absence lets you return within 180 days without reapplying for admission. On this page you'll find everything you need to request a leave and plan your return: the Leave of Absence Request and Intent to Return forms, step-by-step checklists, and answers to common questions about how a leave affects your financial aid, scholarships, housing, and progress toward your degree. If you still have questions after reading, the Academic Success Center is here to help at academicsuccesscenter [at] lipscomb.edu (academicsuccesscenter[at]lipscomb[dot]edu).
