Our unique CAHME-accredited, online, competency-based Master of Health Administration program will equip you with the skills and strategies to drive meaningful transformation through impactful leadership, shaping the future of healthcare.

With more than 900 companies in Nashville operating in the health care sector, our expansive network is your gateway to build relationships with high-level individuals in various facets of the health care community. This includes providers, payers, governmental agencies, entrepreneurial start-ups and other health-related entities. 

We designed this four semester program (39 credit hours) with working professionals in mind. The curriculum is completed asynchronously online with an immersive integration experience completed at the end of each semester on our main campus in Nashville, Tennessee. You’ll also have opportunities for mentorship with faculty and the Executive Advisory Board members.

Who is this program for?

This MHA is ideal for those wishing to advance their qualifications or pivot careers. As an aspiring health administrator, you’ll increase your understanding of health care in preparation for strategic leadership roles.. For a clinician, this degree helps you accrue the business skills necessary to move toward a career in administration, while building on existing skills. Our online modality gives you the flexibility to complete your coursework on your own schedule through the semester, while the in-person integration will provide you with opportunities to network with other students and health care leaders in Nashville.

Admissions Requirements

Admissions Requirements

Our MHA program takes a personal approach, and we want you to learn from your cohort colleagues in addition to your professors. That’s why we consider the whole candidate in our admissions process. We are looking for MHA students who can think analytically, who can contribute to a team, who are motivated by personal growth and who can inspire others. 

The MHA is recommended for early-mid career professionals with an interest in or on a managerial track and for clinical professionals with any level of experience who are currently in or desire an administrative role. 

The completed application requirements for the MHA program:

  1. Your submitted online application and fee 
  2. Resume 
    • This formal document highlights your professional experiences, educational background, and relevant skills/certificates to earning a graduate degree at Lipscomb. If you have less than three years of work experience, please include service and volunteer opportunities within your professional experiences.  Resumes are typically one page long.
  3. Personal Statement
    • This formal document highlights what you bring to the program and serves as a professional writing sample. The personal statement is one tool that will be used to evaluate your writing proficiency in addition to helping us gain specific insight into your personal drive, motivation, and goals. The personal statements are generally 500-650 words in length.
  4. Transcripts from your undergraduate program (and graduate, if applicable)
    • Have electronic copies emailed directly from your undergraduate institution to gradadmissions [at] lipscomb.edu (gradadmissions[at]lipscomb[dot]edu)
    • If you are having a hard copy mailed, have it sent to:

  5. Two Professional Recommendations
    • An email will be sent to your recommenders with instructions on completing the process. The two letters of recommendations should be written by people who know you well in either a professional work or academic environment and can speak to your ability to succeed in a rigorous graduate program. If possible, we encourage you to request one letter of recommendation from a workplace supervisor. 
  6. Writing Sample
    • The writing sample should demonstrate clarity of thinking, reasoning ability, logic, and strong writing and communication skills. Your sample should be an academic research paper or professional document that has been previously written and has been evaluated in an academic or professional setting. Previously published work may also be considered. This sample should not be something prepared for the sole purpose of admission to the program.
  7. Video Interview

    • Each applicant will engage in a video interview. The interview will be conducted either by the Program Director or a senior member of the faculty and will consist of behavioral-type questions. This will offer you an opportunity to share specific examples from your work experience.
