Student Spotlight - Joshua Hanslip
August 15, 2019
Meet Joshua a Senior mechanical engineering major from Florida. His family is Jamaican and Dominican. He plans to pursue a career in Automotive Design.
Why did I choose Lipscomb?: The Engineering program was accredited which put it on my radar. Upon my visit I met my advisor and the Dean of Engineering who were amazing to both me and my family. I could tell this would be a place where I could not only accept a great challenge academically but also grow in my faith and make it my own.
Advice to Lipscomb students: No matter what your journey is like here, or in life in general, do not try or expect there to be a timeline to it. You cant place a timeline on life so do not be discouraged when things dont work in the timeframe you wanted it to. Focus on the goal and continually strive toward it with no regrets and be willing to hear where God is calling you. If you do that, then everything will work out.
Something to Share: Music is a huge part of my life and has always been big in my family. I started with trumpet when I was 7. Trumpet has definitely become my favorite instrument and I still play it to this day. I moved into jazz music in middle school and fell in love. Later on, I picked up piano in high school. And of course when I came here I had to learn acoustic because it's Nashville.
How are you involved on campus?: Collegiate 100, Greek Life (Theta Psi), used to do work with the ideal program.
