New York City (Shiloh) Spring Break 2025
March 28, 2025

During spring break a Lipscomb missions team went to New York and served in an elementary school in the Bronx.
Day 1 Monday - The first day we stepped into the school a lot of us noticed how different it was compared to the schools we are used to there. This building we were working in had two schools in it, which was new. We set up for when the students came in, we welcomed them in then got our assignments. Most of us were assigned to different classrooms from grades 3K to 5th grade. One of our fashion majors got to organize a boutique from the clothes from a clothes drive.
Day 2 Tuesday - We came to the school better than ever, ready for our day. We played music that morning and danced with all the kids walking in and gave out high-fives. During recess, we played with kids from kindergarten to 5th grade -- basketball, soccer, and a big game of Duck, Duck, Goose.
Day 3 Wednesday- This is the day we saw something change in the kids we saw every day. They seemed to warm up to us in the morning, running up to us to get hugs and high-fives. Some of us went into town after school and got to see broadway musicals.
Day 4 Thursday- We got to work with the theater classes and watch them prepare for their all-culture dance performance in May. We also had a fun group adventure where we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge together.
Day 5 Friday- This was our last day, and the kids knew it was coming to an end, but we still gave them our all. Shiloh, the group we were working with, gave us gifts to give to the teachers we were shadowing, and we wrote them a note thanking them for the week. The school gave us backpacks as thank you gifts. We will never forget this awesome experience and it will be in our hearts forever!
