Sanctuary Auditions 2025
Lipscomb’s premiere vocal group requires a very special kind of singer. The group will need to be able to learn music quickly, adapt to a variety of settings, circumstances and audiences and react professionally in all situations. Because of the visibility of the group and the high level of commitment required, a rigorous audition process has been established.
Important Dates:
Virtual Audition Deadline: March 17, 2025
Audition Guidelines
Each singer should complete the online Sanctuary Application Form prior to the audition.
All auditions are virtual. Please review the audition guidelines below.
The Audition Process
Round One
Each singer will prepare a video of two audition pieces. The songs should be Contemporary Christian/Worship songs in contrasting tempos. Both should be sung a cappella and from memory. Try to pick songs that spotlight your voice well.
In addition to the audition songs, your audition should contain a 2-3 minute spoken introduction of one of the audition songs. Think about how you would introduce the song in a concert setting.
Each singer will review a short musical score and audio MP3 of a song (these materials can be found here) arranged in the Sanctuary style. The singer should learn their vocal part and then record a video of themselves singing along with the audio recording.
Send the application and videos of the worship songs, the song introduction and musical example to gillrl [at] lipscomb.edu (Dr. Gill). If you send a YouTube link please ensure that you set the viewing to "Public."
Group selection and scholarship determinations are based on your performance in these videos so put your best foot forward. The deadline to submit audition videos is March 17, 2025.
Round Two
All students who make it past the first round will then have an extended personal Zoom interview scheduled with Dr Gill.
Results for next year’s group will be posted no later than April 14.
If you have additional questions please contact gillrl [at] lipscomb.edu (Dr. Gill).
