Political rhetoric expert speaks on Sarah Palin's political career on Nov. 8

Lipscomb University presents Roderick P. Hart, director of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Shamblin Theatre, as the third speaker in the annual Pizza and Politics speaker series.
 
Hart, a noted scholar on political rhetoric, will speak on “Why are we still talking about Sarah Palin?” Hart will share his insight on Palin’s political career and her ongoing love-hate relationship with the media. Hart’s lecture is free and open to the public.
 
Hart holds the Shivers Chair in Communication and Government at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as dean of the College of Communication and director of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation. His area of special interest is politics and the mass media.
                       
He is the author or editor of twelve books and has published over 200 articles and papers. He is also a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers at UT-Austin and has been named a Research Fellow of the International Communication Association.
 
Hart is also co-author of DICTION 6.0, a computer program designed to analyze language patterns in business, politics, and popular culture, with Craig Carroll at Lipscomb University.
