The Lipscomb men’s soccer team’s historical streak of achievements continues as the Bisons are nationally-ranked by Top Drawer Soccer for the first time in program history.
After a stunning run to the third round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer College Cup, the Bisons were voted as the 16th-best team in the nation on Monday by Top Drawer Soccer.
Lipscomb (10-9-1) had quite the weekend to earn a spot in the rankings.
On Thursday, the Purple and Gold defeated Washington 5-4 on penalties in Seattle thanks to the heroics of backup goalkeeper and penalty-saving specialist Luke Wilson. It was the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win in their second overall appearance.
On Saturday Lipscomb traveled cross-country to Orlando, where they took down No. 9 Central Florida 1-0 in overtime. Freshman Louis Robinson scored the game-winner in the 97th minute.
Lipscomb will now be taking on No. 3 Kentucky in the third round of the tournament in Lexington on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. CST The Bisons nearly knocked off the Wildcats in Nashville earlier this season, losing 3-2 in overtime.
The Bisons had previously received votes in the national polls, and are a regular in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings, but this is their first appearance in the national top-25.
