Lipscomb University President L. Randolph Lowry released the following statement in response to today’s decision by President Trump to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

“We are disappointed with the actions of the federal government today. For nearly a decade, we have had a tremendous experience with the young people who have been part of our community seeking an education that will open doors for their future. We value these bright minds who are serving the world around us and are making a tremendous impact through their leadership and talent. We care about these students, support them and walk with them on their journey just like we do all of our students.

We are deeply saddened that the contributions these students, who have not only received an education on our campus but at institutions across the country, are making in our communities are in jeopardy. We have a deep sense of hope that our government will find a path for these productive young people to legally remain a part of our society. We are willing to work with our elected officials on the state and national level as well as our community leaders to develop solutions to continue to offer a pathway to a bright future for these students.”
