Lipscomb University kicks-off holiday season with Lighting of the Green

 |

Lipscomb University "officially" began the holiday season by hosting its first “Lighting of the Green,” a holiday celebration featuring a special appearance by Amy Grant on Nov. 28 on the lawn of the Burton Building.

Several thousand members of the Lipscomb family and the community enjoyed the event, which featured Grant performing some of her best-loved Christmas songs, a performance by the 150-voice David Lipscomb Campus School Chorus and Lipscomb University Jazz Ensembles. The celebration ended with the lighting of a Christmas tree on the lawn of the Burton Bible Building. Camille Fraser, an eighth grader at David Lipscomb Middle School who is a cancer survivor, had the honor of lighting the tree. During the event, President Randy Lowry presented a donation from Lipscomb to Youth Encouragement Services to help provide a holiday meal for 150 families.

A special thanks to the partners of Lighting of the Green which include Advent Marketing Results, CO Christian & Sons Co., Inc.; SunTrust; the Beaman Foundation; Fire Sprinkler, LLC; Frost Specialty Risk; NHC and Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC.
