Located in the heart of Music City, it is not unusual for Lipscomb students to attend local concerts put on by some of today’s biggest and brightest stars, however, it isn’t every day that they get to work alongside them in a large-scale, professional awards show.

For its fourth year, Lipscomb University, along with the Gospel Music Association, will welcome some of the hottest acts in the Christian and Gospel music industries to campus for the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m.

Nearly 150 Lipscomb students will have the opportunity to participate in the show as talent liaisons and seat-fillers.

Carter Hilliard, a senior business major, says he has volunteered for the past three Dove Awards shows on campus and appreciates how this opportunity allows an inside-glimpse into how a professional awards show operates.

“Christian music is so pertinent to Lipscomb, and as a business student, it is cool to have a first-hand look at how the show is a big working machine with marketing, communication, etc. I think it’s really applicable to different majors at Lipscomb,” Hilliard said.

Hosted by award-winning duo for KING & COUNTRY and Gospel music powerhouse Tye Tribbett, the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards will air exclusively on Trinity Broadcast Network on Sunday, Oct. 16. Blanca and Travis Greene will host the pre-telecast in Lipscomb’s Collins Alumni Auditorium before the awards show kicks-off in Allen Arena.

“Our theme this year is ‘Love. Amplified.’ a phrase we believe encompasses the collective power and impact of our music,” said Jackie Patillo, president and executive director of the Gospel Music Association. “At a time when so much of the world is divided and hostility is in the air, we will turn up the volume of love and the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ.”

Top nominated artists for the awards show include Lauren Daigle, Hillsong UNITED, Chris Tomlin, Kirk Franklin and Bill Gaither. Over 1,600 professional members determine nominees, and winners will be voted on by the entire GMA membership, which includes nearly 2,500 members. See full list of nominees here.

Performers for the event include: Hillsong UNITED, Natalie Grant, Tamela Mann, TobyMac, Anthony Brown and Group TherAPy, Steven Curtis Chapman and Hollyn. Presenters include: Kirk Franklin, Kari Jobe, Priscilla Shirer and Ryan Stevenson.

Tickets for the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards are on sale at the Allen Arena box office or online here.
