Lipscomb ranked among top 12 percent in nation for best value by Washington Monthly

Lipscomb University has been named one of the top universities in the nation for best value by Washington Monthly.

Lipscomb UniversityLipscomb University is on an exclusive list of universities that based on the economic value students receive per dollar invested according to Washington Monthly’s newly released list of “Best-Bang-for-the-Buck Colleges.” Lipscomb is ranked in the top 12 percent in the nation out of 1,572 universities across the country surveyed for the ranking.

“Student debt load is a critical issue among universities across the country, and at Lipscomb University we work diligently to offer a quality education that is affordable and that gives students the tools they need to be successful in the workplace,” said L. Randolph Lowry, Lipscomb University president. “It is gratifying to see that national leaders and educators recognize Lipscomb University’s growing reputation as a vibrant, innovative, serving institution that works with students to develop financial plans allowing them to graduate without a large debt burden.”

Lipscomb University was ranked above institutions such as Pepperdine University, Temple University, Syracuse University, Valparaiso University, Taylor University, Rollins College and Seton Hall University. Lipscomb is one of only two Church of Christ affiliated universities and one of only five universities in Tennessee included on the exclusive list.

This is the latest of several recognitions the university has received for its quality and excellence. This fall, Lipscomb was again ranked among the Top 20 regional universities in the South, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s “2014 America’s Best Colleges” guidebook published today. Lipscomb University was also ranked in that guidebook as one of the Top 5 regional universities in the South whose students graduate with the least debt. The university was also included on the 2014 Military Friendly Schools® list, which recognizes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the nation that are providing services and programs to ensure that military service members, veterans and their spouses and dependents are successful on campus. This is the fifth consecutive year Lipscomb University has been included on the list.

In July, Lipscomb University was named a top university for lifetime return on investment by Affordable Colleges Online, a leading national resource for college affordability and financial aid information. Lipscomb was ranked in the top five percent of Tennessee colleges analyzed for the ranking. The university was also recently one of only 54 universities in the nation honored as a 2013-14 Christian College of Distinction. In addition, the National Council on Teacher Quality named Lipscomb’s College of Education one of only four top teacher-training programs in the United States. In addition, the College of Business was ranked 24th in the nation in the Military Times’ 2013 Best for Vets: Business Schools Guide for veterans based on financial aid, academic policies and participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

This fall the university also set an enrollment milestone with an official enrollment of 4,593. The university has experienced an 82 percent enrollment growth rate since 2005. This year’s graduate enrollment after the official count is 1,696, an 11.5 percent increase from last year.
