Lipscomb prints featured in Spirit of Nashville Collection

Full-color prints of Willard Collins Auditorium, Brewer Tower and the Lipscomb bison are available for sale as part of the Spirit of Nashville gallery.

The 2007 gallery selection includes these three images as part of a series of outstanding landmarks memorable to Nashville natives or visitors who have a heart for the city and the university. Artist Joel Anderson, co-founder of Anderson Thomas Design, created these prints to capture not only the spirit of Nashville, but also to capture the spirit of Lipscomb University.

In 2003, Anderson, along with Lipscomb alumnus David Thomas (‘85), decided to create something that would boldly portray the character and flavor of Nashville. They originally created a limited edition calendar which featured 14 posters designed to resemble the popular posters from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. The calendar became a huge success and the art went on to win numerous awards. When people from across the nation and around the world began asking to buy copies of the prints, Anderson and Thomas created the Spirit of Nashville web site to make this collection available to the general public. A portion of the proceeds from all Spirit of Nashville art print sales is donated to local charities which help Nashville’s battered women and underprivileged children.

The Alumni Relations Office worked directly with Anderson throughout the entire process. “The Spirit of Nashville prints offer Lipscomb alumni and friends the opportunity to own a piece of art that vividly illustrates the history and uniqueness of our university. We are honored to be a part of this award-winning collection,” says Mark Meador, senior director of alumni relations.
