Lipscomb excels at great teaching, engaged students according to Christian College of Distinction designation

Lipscomb University has been honored as a 2015 Christian College of Distinction. The Christian College of Distinction 2015 designation is given to select schools to honor their excellence in student-focused higher education.

Lipscomb is one of 54 universities across the nation named to the list. Other institutions include Pepperdine University, Colorado Christian University, Wheaton College, Abilene Christian University and Lee University.

Colleges of Distinction is a nationally recognized, web-based guide for high school juniors and seniors in the college search process. Colleges and universities nominated must excel in four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.

According to the Colleges of Distinction website, a College of Distinction is:

  • Nationally recognized by education professionals as an excellent school;
  • Strongly focused on teaching undergraduates and whose students are taught by credentialed professors, not by graduate students or teaching assistants; home to a wide variety of innovative learning experiences;
  • An active campus with many opportunities for personal development; and
  • Highly valued by graduate schools and employers for its outstanding preparation.

Lipscomb University was also recently ranked No. 23 out of 288 institutions on the Best Christian Colleges list released by niche.com. In December, the university was named to the Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list of 100 best values in private universities for 2015.
