Lipscomb Academy presents the 11th annual The Art Event Feb. 6-8, 2015. TJ Cunningham, an award-winning artist based in Florida, is this year’s featured artist.

The Art Event will take place in the Lipscomb Academy high school gym, located at 3901 Granny White Pike in Nashville. The sale hours are Friday, Feb. 6, 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Art Event at Lipscomb is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend. An online auction is in progress at www.LipscombArtEvent.com.

The Art Event will include more than 50 artists from across the country displaying works ranging from traditional to contemporary, with a wide range of mediums and prices.

A native of Vermont, the 2015 featured artist TJ Cunningham is known for both his landscape and figurative work. Although Cunningham has spent the better part of the last seven years in Florida, nearly all of his landscapes are depictions of his native Vermont. His passion for landscape is surpassed only by his love of portraiture and figurative painting.

“In my work, I strive to display beauty in everyday places,” said Cunningham. “Nashville is certainly a city with a spotlight upon it, and I look forward to being part of a first-rate event in a city on the rise.

Cunningham has quickly risen to national prominence after being recognized as one of the country’s emerging artists by Southwest Art Magazine. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work including the Exceptional Merit Award from the Portrait Society of America in 2013 and fifth place award from the Portrait Society in 2014.
