Hodzic declares for this summer's NBA Draft

Lipscomb University power forward Adnan Hodzic has declared that he will enter the 2010 NBA Draft.  Hodzic does not intend to hire an agent and therefore he will be eligible to return to Lipscomb next year if he removes his name from the draft at a later date.

Hodzic, a junior from Sarajevo, Bosnia, finished second in the nation in scoring at 22.7 points per contest.  He was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-Conference First Team.  Last week he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press.

“After careful consideration of my options and my desire to play professionally, I have decided to enter my name in this summer’s NBA draft,” Hodzic said.  “While I have made great advancements on the court for Lipscomb over the last three years, I know that continual hard work and practice will make me an even better player.  Entering my name in the draft allows me to gain valuable feedback from NBA scouts and NBA general managers.  I am grateful for my teammates at Lipscomb and I hope this process makes Lipscomb an even better program. ”

By declaring for this year’s draft, Hodzic will be able participate in workouts with NBA teams.  Underclassmen that enter the NBA Draft and do not sign with an agent have until May 8 to withdraw their names from the draft and retain their collegiate eligibility.

“Adnan has worked tirelessly over the last three years to become a great player,” Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson said. “At the end of this process I know Adnan will make the best decision to attain his goal of playing at the next level.  He’s a man of great character who will always be a part of this family and we will support him in every way possible.”
