Shannon Terry, a former Lipscomb University basketball player and a member of the Lipscomb Athletics Council, has been named to the "Forty Under 40" awards list compiled by Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal.

This marks the third year that Terry, the chief executive officer of Rivals.com. has been named to the list. He was also honored in 2006 and 2007. His inclusion for the third time earns him a spot in the "Forty Under 40" Hall of Fame. Terry is the first Hall of Fame honoree from a dot.com.

"I am proud to be recognized within our industry and I am most proud to represent everyone at Rivals that have played a key role in our amazing growth," said Terry. "We have grown Rivals.com into one of the Internet's top online sports properties through hard work, passion and a sound business model."

Terry, 38, sold the company to Yahoo for a reported $98 million. Rivals.com is the sixth largest sports web site on the Internet.

The list is compiled annually by the Sports Business Journal to honor the "best and brightest" executives under the age of 40.

Terry graduated from Lipscomb in 1992. He was a co-captain of the Bisons basketball team. During his four years in the program his senior class earned the most wins of any class in the history of college basketball with 145.

Greg Gough, a 1991 Lipscomb University graduate, is director, chief technology officer, for Rivals.com.
