Campus celebrates Pi Day with a tasty treat

 |

In celebration of the Pi Day holiday, which takes place on March 14 each year, Lipscomb University math and science students, faculty and staff celebrated with pie. The delicious treat was given out as a symbolic token honoring the reasons for the day.

The holiday is celebrated on March 14 because of the connection to pi (3.14) and because the day is Einstein’s birthday. The campus used this opportunity to celebrate mathematics education and to enjoy some delicious dessert!

"It's a transcendental day," said Doy Hollman, professor of mathematics at Lipscomb. "It is irrationally good - two standard deviations above the mean."

"Pi Day is a chance for math, engineering and physics students to get together and be really nerdy for a while and eat some pie," said Dana Keen, president of the math club at Lipscomb.
