The Lipscomb University Theater Program presents Lisa Gillespie, local actress seen frequently on the stage at the Boiler Room Theatre in Franklin, speaking in its annual Acting Workshop series.

Gillespie, a teacher at St. Cecilia Academy who can currently be seen on the Boiler Room stage in Thoroughly Modern Millie, will speak at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, in the University Theater.

Gillespie will speak on the secrets of interpreting characters on the page and bringing them to life on the stage. She will work closely with participants on developing realistic and three-dimensional characters, drawing them out of narrative and bringing them out on stage.

This event is free and open to the public. The theater department holds its annual Acting Workshop for anyone interested in learning more about the craft of theater. Past speakers have included Dr. Jerry Henderson, director for the school of theatre at Pepperdine University and Judy Leavell, a professional stage and screen actor in Atlanta.
