Lipscomb University’s accounting program, housed in the College of Business, has been ranked the top program in Tennessee and among the top 10 percent in the nation in the 2019 College Factual rankings. This is the second year Lipscomb’s accounting program has been named the top program in Tennessee.
The department of accounting also earned a ranking of 14th in the nation and number one in the state of Tennessee for the second consecutive year for Best Accounting Programs for Veterans. Among those ranked with Lipscomb University in the top 15 in the nation are the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Notre Dame, University of Texas at Austin, University of Southern California, Boston College and Ohio State University.
“There are many quality accounting programs in this very competitive marketplace. So it is both a honor and humbling to be validated so highly by an outside organization,” said Ray Eldridge, dean of the College of Business at Lipscomb. “Lipscomb has a strong accounting legacy and as evident by so many successful alumni. We have a strong accounting faculty that I would match against any other.”
Among the data College Factual considers in its annual rankings are graduation rates, salaries of graduates and student loan default rates in addition to other information. Lipscomb accounting majors have a 100 percent placement rate post-graduation for employment and master’s programs, and attain the credentials required to sit for the Certified Professional Accountant exam.
“The College Factual ranking validates the mission of the Lipscomb accounting program — to prepare students to pass all four parts of the CPA exam the first time and prepare students for practice,” said Brian Masterson, chair of Lipscomb’s accounting, finance and economics department. “Our faculty also continually looks for ways to enhance the educational experience for our students through new and innovative programs such as the new data and analytics concentration in our Master of Accountancy program, which complements the traditional audit and tax concentrations.”
The College of Business at Lipscomb University is recognized nationally as a leader in business education.
