Admission for Majors

We are thrilled that you are interested in pursuing one of the degrees in the School of Music. The following steps must be completed before entering any of the music degree programs.

Audition Guidelines

Admission for Minors and Ensemble Participants

All students planning to apply must submit one video (youtube link) of a performance on their applied instrument. Applications submitted prior to March 1st will be given priority.
Requirements for videos can be found in the Pre-Screening Guidelines page.

Pre-screening Audition Material Deadlines

Early decision: October 9th, 2024
Final deadline for Spring 25 Transfer Students: Nov 1st, 2024
Final deadline for scholarship consideration: Feb 10, 2025
Final deadline for admission-only: March 1st, 2025

Early Decision

Students who would like to be given priority for scholarships are highly encouraged to opt for early decision. In this process, students will submit their pre-screening video by October 9th, 2024 and if selected will audition on campus on November 9th. Students opting for early decision will be notified about acceptance and scholarships no later than December 1st. 2024.

Audition Dates

November 9th, 2024 - On Campus (This date is reserved for students who have opted for early decision)
January 25th, 2025 - On Campus and Virtual Auditions
February 22nd, 2025 - On Campus and Virtual Auditions
March 22nd, 2025 - On Campus and Virtual Auditions (no scholarships awarded)

Scholarships

Scholarship Information

Your acceptance and scholarship decisions will be based on your audition as well as conversation with the faculty during your live audition.
Music scholarships may be added to other awards offered by the university, depending on the student’s overall financial aid package.
School of Music scholarships are also available for non-music majors who would like to participate in an ensemble.

Current students who are not receiving scholarships or who wish to apply for scholarship consideration in a different performance area, may contact the coordinator for their performance area to request an audition.

Scholarship Recipient Expectations

Requirements of Scholarship Recipients

Students awarded scholarships will participate in appropriate and assigned ensemble(s) and will be assigned to a scholarship team to provide service to the School of Music throughout the academic year.
Scholarship students will maintain a B (3.0) cumulative average in music courses at Lipscomb and a 2.5 cumulative average overall. Scholarship students may not be on any type of probation. The music faculty evaluate all scholarship awards at the end of each school year.

The School of Music at Lipscomb University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Without an arrangement of release, member schools of NASM are not allowed to accept students on scholarship who have previously accepted scholarships from another member school. Please let us know about any other music scholarships you have been awarded.
