Lifelong Learning Lunch & Learn on August 21

Join the Lifelong Learning program on Friday, Aug. 21, for “Swing, Sing & Stories: An American Jazz Timeline with a Nashville Voice” featuring Thea Danos with Nashville Jazz Workshop. The event takes place at Longview Mansion, 811 Caldwell Lane in Nashville.

Explore the rich history of American jazz in this engaging appreciation class led by a Nashville-based jazz singer, Thea Danos. In partnership with the Nashville Jazz Workshop, the class involves guided listening, influential album recommendations and personal stories from Danos' life as a full-time performer. Danos is a Nashville-born vocalist whose romantic, “old soul” sound bridges the smoky jazz clubs of 1950s New York with the intimate bossa nova scene of early-1960s Rio de Janeiro. Specializing in American jazz and Brazilian bossa nova, she brings warmth, elegance and an unmistakable sense of timelessness to her performances.

Cost: $45 person and includes lunch. Register by Aug. 18.
